How Many Amanita Caps Per Ounce?

This is always a difficult question to answer for one simple reason: Unlike virtually every other product we offer, none vary in size as much as the Amanita muscaria mushroom caps do! We hand-pick every single one we offer, so they are all the best quality we can find, but caps can range from the size of a quarter, to, beleive it or not; the size of a small dinner plate! – This difference in size is no indication of the quality of the Amanita; it’s simply a difference in genetics with this plant in relation to size, as well as the fact that they sprout up almost overnight when they’re in season. Some Amanitas sprout up to be as big as a dinner plate, while some just pop up and get no larger than the size of a quarter.

So, since amanitas have such a broad range of sizes, that there is no way we could actually give our customers a “how many caps in each ounce” that would be accurate. In the past, we have sometimes tried to fill requests about what sizes a customer may want in their order, but this, as well, is impossible for us to do. Sometimes an aentire crop of Amanita muscaria can be the size of a quarter, and sometimes they call all be so giant, that 1 ounce sould take up an entire cap!

Either way, if I had to offer and answer on the Most common size of Amanta caps, it would most-likely be about the diameter of a typical bottle of water…maybe 3″ – 4″ in diameter. But, again, that’s just an estimate, and sizes can vary quite massively!
